In the northern part of Germany’s Ruhrgebiet, close to Dortmund, the mailorder company Manufactum has established it’s first extraordinary departmentstore. Strange location? Yes. But the place is special: The buildings belong to a former coal mine. The departmentstore itself occupies 1.000 sqm in the conserved dressing hall.
