“Concept store” describes a store which is identified by a special mix of brands and products. It’s a modern experience of shopping, always in motion and highly innovative. The store addresses particular groups of customers: e.g. luxury, – design-, streetwear-customers. They’ll find (all) the products, they identify with in one store. A typical mix of products and brands in a concept store would be: fashion, shoes, (home-) accessories, books/cd’s, cosmetics, food, toys, hardware for daily use. The range is wide and some stores even change theyrselfes and the products regularly, to stay flexible and surprising.
A concept store (for us) is NOT: classical departmentstore, mono brand (flagship) store, fashion boutique, furniture store, mall, etc.

shanghai tang is actually a brand and owned by the richemonde group (group that owns cartier, panerai and chloe) – they have 42 stores and its not really a lifestyle concept (it was about 10 years ago). I dont think it belongs here. We need to define the parameters -

multi-brand lifestyle retail concepts (small to medium size – not more than 4 branches) dedicated to design (fashion, decor, accessories, etc.).

Dont you agree?

Otherwise there is a lot of overlap. For example – eco-organic versus localized trinkets and handicrafts. Doesnt fit with 80% of this niche.

Does anyone here knows what’s a real concept store? I have seen to many common stores posted here and just a few has really be called as a concept store.
They function as a kind of showroom, where the user has the chance to experience the benefits of the products displayed. Therefore, interactivity is its main attraction. Still others go further and provide personalization, allowing consumers to go out with a product to your face, looking to sell a lifestyle.
It can be classified more as a marketing strategy that aims to bring the consumer brand.

HI everyone I am a masters student of Marketing in
Dublin Institute of Technology in Ireland. I am currently in my
second semester and I am about to embark on my thesis for my finals.

I am most interested in retail marketing, and wish to focus on this area for my final year project. My thesis structure will incorporate experiential marketing and relate marketing leading on to the emergence of concept stores. My understanding of a concept store is the name for a special kind of retail category used to describe a store which combines brands and products in a particularly experiential customer-related way. I consider concept stores as
examples of theatrical consumer environments, where the ideas of art,fashion and design fuse to create a lifestyle emporium. Is their any bloggers interested in the inspired store experience??
I am living in Ireland, and our retail sector is not yet up to date
with experiential marketing..
I have a strong interest in this area, and unfortunately their is not near enough literature written on this area and this I wish to expand.
My work is strictly for college purpose only.

I am seeking an online interview (via email) regards your love and passion of of a chosen concept store . It would mean a lot to me if someone were available to answer a few questions at your leisure. Part of my methodology for my thesis is
that of netnography. This is my final year at university and I am
working hard towards my end project. If you did not mind I would love

A great concept store opened its doors in France … entirely by an artist (listed on Arprice for his paintings) … a concept that is powered by a traditional period staircase serving a restaurant suspended from a green wall on the 2nd floor and then a shop on the 1st floor of the works of the artist and not just paintings but a clothing line painted (single example) of everyday objects or decorative shoe cushions. … and a tea lounge space on the ground floor. All floors are costumisés by the artist, a unique place in the world. New Worlds on the spot or on the site that is realizable in court!

You should def check out the Statement Store on Spui 23 in Amsterdam! It’s called By AMFI and it’s the store of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute that exhibits and sells products of their talents; students, teachers, alumni and friends.

By AMFI is a community working together with the industry and society. Every 3 months a new concept is made up and a new environment is created, with new products from both inside and outside AMFI. Every theme is organized and realized by our young AMFI professionals, often reflecting a current theme in school.

I was impressed by the concept store of Anthropologie I saw in Chelsea Market in NYC last April. Apparently they have a lot of stores worldwide.
